Transporters 

We have been invited to participate in the 2027 Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive benefiting four food pantries in the area - United Way Welcome Pantry, Loaves and Fishes, Ecumenical Food Pantry, and the Salvation Army Food Pantry.

Saturday, May 1st beginning at 8:00 am and running until roughly 4:00 or 4:30 pm (or when sorting and distributing is finished)

Please note that all volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes for safety!

Transporters will be traveling between the Welcome Pantry and the post office.

This volunteer role is when you don't know exactly what you'll be doing while volunteering but you are up for anything. Volunteers in this role should be flexible and be willing to lend a hand wherever needed. It might be cleaning, sorting, organizing, painting, running copies, and more.

This volunteer role is responsible for assisting clients with their shopping items. Volunteers should have the ability to lift items, boxes, or bags up to 50 lbs. It requires bending and lifting. Volunteers will load packed bags and boxes into a special outside shopping cart. Volunteers may be expected to help load bags and boxes into clients’ vehicles. This role requires going inside and outside, and volunteers should dress appropriately for the forecasted weather.

All roles require closed-toed shoes for volunteer safety.

Volunteers are asked to arrive thirty minutes before the pantry opens to participate in all-hands huddle before opening the pantry.

This volunteer role is responsible for registering clients in our database.  This role requires sitting at a desk and may be a good option for someone who can’t stand for long periods of time.  This volunteer will be asking for private, personal information, so volunteers in this role should use discretion and keep all information collected confidential. Volunteers should be welcoming and friendly. A background check is required for this role due to the information gathered during the registration process.

This volunteer role is responsible for stocking the shelves of the Welcome Pantry. Volunteers will sort, stack, and display items in a visually appealing manner. This role is done during hours the pantry is closed to prepare for upcoming open pantries. This role may require bending, lifting, twisting, and squatting.

Volunteers are asked to arrive thirty minutes before the pantry opens to participate in all-hands huddle before opening the pantry.

This volunteer role is responsible for unloading the weekly delivery truck. Volunteers will also unpack and stock items in the backstock room. Volunteers should have the ability to lift items, boxes, or bags up to 50 lbs. It requires bending and lifting.

Volunteers are asked to arrive thirty minutes before the pantry opens to participate in all-hands huddle before opening the pantry.

This volunteer role is responsible for checking clients in as they arrive for their appointments. Volunteers will be asked to indicate shoppers have arrived by marking them off the shopper list and sending shoppers in to shop the pantry at their appointment time.  This role requires sitting at a desk and may be a good option for someone who can’t stand for long periods of time.  This volunteer will be the first face our shoppers see, so volunteers in this role should be welcoming and friendly.

Volunteers are asked to arrive thirty minutes before the pantry opens to participate in all-hands huddle before opening the pantry.

This volunteer role is responsible for checking in clients to shop the pantry. Volunteers in this role should be comfortable with basic data entry. Shoppers provide their number to the volunteer, and the volunteer will enter their number to check them in to our database. Volunteers will also be asked to check off shopper from the appointment list.  This role requires sitting at a desk and may be a good option for someone who can’t stand for long periods of time.

Volunteers are asked to arrive thirty minutes before the pantry opens to participate in all-hands huddle before opening the pantry.

This volunteer role is responsible for providing a cart for each pantry shopper. Between clients, volunteers may be asked to sanitize carts with disinfectant wipes. This volunteer often helps clients arrange their bags and boxes in the cart to prepare for shopping.

Volunteers are asked to arrive thirty minutes before the pantry opens to participate in all-hands huddle before opening the pantry.

This volunteer role is responsible for grabbing meat/protein items from the freezer and displaying them on the table for the client to choose from. There are typically two items from which to choose. This role can be done standing or sitting and may be a good option for someone who can’t stand for long periods of time.

Volunteers are asked to arrive thirty minutes before the pantry opens to participate in all-hands huddle before opening the pantry.

This volunteer role requires the ability to lift items, boxes, or bags up to 50 lbs. It requires bending and lifting. Volunteers will weigh grocery items for shoppers and record the weights on a log.
