This volunteer role is responsible for assisting clients with their shopping items. Volunteers should have the ability to lift items, boxes, or bags up to 50 lbs. It requires bending and lifting. Volunteers will load packed bags and boxes into a special outside shopping cart. Volunteers may be expected to help load bags and boxes into clients’ vehicles. This role requires going inside and outside, and volunteers should dress appropriately for the forecasted weather.

This volunteer role is responsible for stocking the shelves of the Welcome Pantry during open pantry. Volunteers will sort, stack, and display items in a visually appealing manner. Volunteers may be asked to stock shelves during lulls in shopping to avoid crowding the pantry. This role may require bending, lifting, twisting, and squatting.

This volunteer role is responsible for registering clients in our database.  This role requires sitting at a desk and may be a good option for someone who can’t stand for long periods of time.  This volunteer will be asking for private, personal information, so volunteers in this role should use discretion and keep all information collected confidential. Volunteers should be welcoming and friendly. A background check is required for this role due to the information gathered during the registration process.

Volunteers will be asked to indicate shoppers have arrived by marking them off the shopper list and sending shoppers in to shop the pantry at their appointment time.  This role requires sitting at a desk and may be a good option for someone who can’t stand for long periods of time.  This volunteer will be the first face our shoppers see, so volunteers in this role should be welcoming and friendly.

This volunteer role is responsible for checking in clients to shop the pantry. Volunteers in this role should be comfortable with basic data entry. Shoppers provide their number to the volunteer, and the volunteer will enter their number to check them in to our database. Volunteers will also be asked to check off shopper from the appointment list.  This role requires sitting at a desk and may be a good option for someone who can’t stand for long periods of time.

This volunteer role is responsible for providing a cart for each pantry shopper. Between clients, volunteers may be asked to sanitize carts with disinfectant wipes. This volunteer often helps clients arrange their bags and boxes in the cart to prepare for shopping.

This volunteer role is responsible for grabbing meat/protein items from the freezer and displaying them on the table for the client to choose from. There are typically two items from which to choose. This role can be done standing or sitting and may be a good option for someone who can’t stand for long periods of time.
